“I was taken to the First Army Corps Hospital. It was a farm owned by Isaac Lightner.”
Private John F. Chase, 5th Maine Light Artillery
This room is located on the 2nd floor and honors Private Chase - the “Most Wounded Man in The Civil War.” A Confederate shell left 48 wounds and the surgeons first left him outside to “finish dying”.
The Chase Room will be much less painful (and inside). A bright, pleasing room with views of the grounds awaits. With a Pencil Post queen bed, en suite bathroom, air-conditioning, HDTV, wi-fi and USB-charging stations, you can “finish sleeping.”
