Join us for three separate history weekends this winter: Lincoln at Gettysburg on February 20; Hidden Gettysburg on March 12 and Irish at Gettysburg on March 19. All events are suitable for ages 9-99 and we invite families to take advantage of these unique opportunities.
On Saturday, February 20 we will enjoy lunch at the Dobbin House restaurant while listening to Town Guide John McTague and his description of President Lincoln’s visit to Gettysburg in November of 1863 to deliver the Gettsyburg Address. The President himself will join us for lunch and will move among the tables greeting each guest and then later giving his own recollections of the November visit. This event is ideal for school age children and will leave a lifelong impression of meeting an actual President. The cost is $40 for adults and $30 for children.
On March 11-13 we will host the historian and author, JD Petruzzi, at the Lightner Farmhouse for a “Hidden Gettysburg” weekend. JD will talk to the guests on Saturday morning at breakfast and then will lead guests on a tour of little known spots around the battlefield and the town. Each couple will receive a copy of his book, +The Complete Gettsyburg Guide+. Cost is $100 per couple and $60 for single participants.
On March 19 all things Irish will be on our agenda as we enjoy an optional brief tour of the Irish position on the Gettsyburg Battlefield in the afternoon with Licensed Guide Rich Kohr followed by dinner at the Dobbin House restaurant where Rich Kohr will present a power point talk on the Irish at Gettsyburg. Gettysburg is home to two Irish pubs where dinner and drinks can be enjoyed on Friday evening. The package cost is $50 per person.
On each of these three weekends the National Park Service will be offering free lectures at the Visitor’s Center museum on Sunday afternoon. Please check www.destinationgettysburg for other events being held on the weekend of your visit.
